As many of you will be aware, towards the end of last year Biggin Hill Airport Limited (BHAL) submitted a proposal to the London Borough of Bromley to extend operating hours at the airport. Whilst full details of this can be found on Bromley Council’s website (accessible through the link below), in short the proposals seek a new timetable in which to operate, meaning the airport would be open from 06:30 to 23:00 Monday to Saturday, and from 08:00 to 23:00 on Sundays and public holidays.
The Council has owned the freehold of the airport since the 1970s, and the terms of the lease with regards to operating hours are intentionally very clear to protect the interests of local residents and ensure minimal overflight disturbance. Personally, I have seen no evidence to suggest that this should be changed, but more importantly residents have the ability to make their thoughts known through the consultation Bromley Council are currently conducting. The consultation is open until 17:00 on Friday 13 March, and I would encourage everyone to have their say.
