The vacant Porcupine Pub site in Mottingham has now been cleared following its illegal occupation by travellers on Monday night.
Many local residents contacted me to express their concerns about this situation and so I am glad to confirm that the site was cleared promptly after Lidl instructed bailiffs to serve a notice of eviction.
However, it is troubling that at this juncture the site remains unsecured with the gate standing open. In light of this, I have been in touch with the Managing Director of Lidl to urge the firm to ensure the site is fully secured as soon as possible.
I will continue to work to do everything I can to ensure that the site our community has fought so resolutely for will be swiftly secured and restored to a pub. I will post any updates about this situation to both my Twitter account and my website. Please see below my letters to the Managing Director of Lidl.
